Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

Have you thought about going there?

30 hours flying and 125 hours ground instruction in 2 weeks?

Even if possible, they must have missed the bit in T&L about the need for time to reflect and assimilate.

Quarantined for 2 weeks with the possibility of further lock downs .

The reality of becoming a FI with dubious prospects and for Genghis the situation may be very different next year.

Genghis will do it for his love of light aviation and not the vain hope of maintaining his professional licence .

By reputation, few schools will employ somebody who trained with one of these "2 week" Eastern Europe schools; feel free to confirm or deny that statement!

Personally, whilst I need to find flexibility in how I get my FI, if I get it, I want to be absolutely sure that neither I nor anybody else considers that I was trained or tested to any lower standard.

No we are pretty well booked considering the current climate. I just like running FI/CRI/IRI courses. :D

God knows how anyone can do an FI course in 2 weeks though. There is 120hrs of theory plus the flying to do. Its a 4 week course and anyone thinking otherwise is deluded or being ripped off........

I am looking to do a CRI course but when I got in contact with my go-to organisation for this sort of thing (OnTrack Aviation) I was basically told that they were fully booked so far into the future that it wasn't worth me adding my name to the waiting list.

@Miscellaneous should I not?

If you're trying to suggest in an amusing way that they didn't want me on a CRI course, the phone call during which I enquired didn't involve me giving my name.

Tongue in cheek attempt at humour. Rest assured I have absolutely no knowledge of any reason you should not believe them. :thumright:

That's a course you can do in a fortnight .

So book yourself a holiday in sunny Spain .

But don't think there will be time to sit on the beach.

And you can use the lockdown period on return to recuperate .

I was basically told that too (in early August) but have my name down in any case. #37 in the list - earliest possible late '21 if not later. Ah well, though I am also looking elsewhere with a good reputation who are happy to run the course on a two weeks at a time basis - though I may eventually need to give up on this idea.

I'm doing this because I really do want to teach the new generation (part-time) and at the end of the day I have a perfectly good career in the telecommunications industry which I intend to remain in. If it takes a bit longer then so be it, I'm in no rush.

Really wish you all the best in finding a suitable CRI course.

For what it's worth, nearly 10 years after passing my CRI, it's one of the best courses I've ever done - don't give up on it, and you can get the On-Track book and start reading into the T&L material, whilst practicing flying accurately from the right hand seat in the meantime.

But it does ask a lot of you, so I tend to think that it won't be an average PPL who ever does it close to the nominal very low flying hour minimum. I was newish from passing my CPL, took several hours over the minimum and was stretched. I also had a heck of a lot of fun doing it.

Good lord, why on earth would anyone want to wait that long to start a CRI course? There are plenty of other places with the capacity to get you through a CRI long before the end of the year and in two weeks or less.
I would suggest though, unless you are going to be the CRI for a group's biennials or if you specialise in a less usual type of flying, not SEP or complex you may find more to do with it.
