Hey, I saw the price top of the page on googling "New Golf Price" as "RRP £18,3xx 1..6 TSI Golf...."

Doing the same right now it says "New Golf RRP from £20,585"...

Like I said. a minute or so googling... If Im wrong I dont particularly care... Its 6 or 7k different on your number.... And Im still not spending 30+k on a new car like a Corsa or a Golf...!!

My point stands.

Seems to be a range of prices for Petrol new petrol cars. Not so much electric.

The MG ZS e is sub £25k. OK it's a bit plasticky but comes with a few toys such as glass roof, 6 way electric seats, sensors and cameras etc.

But even at 140 mile range (real world) against my average 150 miles per week not a problem.

The CCS chargers on the motorway will give sufficient a boost in the time it takes for a loo break and Costa for the occasional trip oop north to visit family too.

Over Christmas I saw advertised the new electric Corsa, claiming 'up to' 205 miles range. Using the build tool in the link below, the basic (lower power, least trim+gizmos) seems to have an OTR road of £31K. Still rather pricy for us to seem worth making the transition. And it looks a bit bigger than our present perfectly satisfactory Mini.

It's worth noting that the WLTP test cycle is only designed to compare vehicles, not be an accurate figure for what you will actually get. For example, the test is done at a temperature of 23C which I would venture isn't achievable in the UK for a large proportion of the time! Lights, heating,wipers, wet roads all decrease the range in battery vehicles as does battery temperature, particularly after cold soaking. In real world conditions based on my Tesla 3 experience so far I would reckon closer to 120 miles would be it.
Still suitable for most users day to day.

I would wait for a bit buying second hand but soon the market will get quite full with used ex-lease cars and some bargains will be had then.

In 1953 half the street crowded into my grandparents back room to watch the Coronation on a teeny tiny TV. We seem to be at the same stage of development with electric cars so once we've gone through the early adopters with excess cash we'll enter the equivalent of Wigfalls / Rumblows / Radio Rentals and eventually turn them into just another white good for recycling when the next improved model comes along, or better still rented for the occasion. I can't wait for the day when a little automated rental bubble turns up to take me home from the pub.

I've had my Tesla M3 since September
aside from being a delight to drive, my range worries have been shown to be un-needed
drove to Gatwick and back (180 mile round trip) with "fuel" to spare
charging at superchargers is a problem, they're generally so fast you barely get time to drink your coffee before the app starts nagging you to move to avoid parking charges!

For me that's the key, if charging is nearly as quick as filling a tank with petrol then it's beginning to suit my travelling style which doesn't involve long stops, just fill the tank, have a pee and go,

With the Teslas the fast charging is of course great but one's need to charge is less as they have such a fantastic range.

Charging infrastructure is however especially in France still poor (not sure about Tesla's as they have their own)

There seems to be a fair coverage of Tesla chargers in Europe and other suppliers aren’t too sparse either. You get used to planning fuel stops much like when flying. Norway has a vast number of chargers. But they get tax breaks for EVs and have a lot of disposable income

Similar in the Netherlands and it is where Tesla Europe is at the moment
