0-200 is your max, Paul (none that I know of over here). Sorry. You could move to the US and do something Experimental..

The Citabria & Champ have much in common, but some fairly important differences also, not least in the grunt department.

He could always buy the Aeronca 65c Superchief with the radial engine (G-BTRG)

I think you would have issues with a Jodel too. I just fit in the Jodel I flew.

I recently became interested in a homebuilt at my aerodrome, but when I tried to sit in it I literally did not fit and could not shut the canopy. Its owner was a good foot shorter than I...

A certain forumite has been sharing some rather distressing pics of the south. I doubt it qualifies as a favourite flying or farming time of year weather wise.

Given my shed project is as near watertight as makes little difference I decided to down tools and take advantage of the weather.

I thought I would share a few pics from the flight to hopefully lighten the mood. :D I don't mind admitting I had moments of being so totally dumbstruck I don't think my brain was engaged. I doubt I would have noticed a flying saucer! It was one of those flights (I know, most are) that, rather than satisfy one's need to fly, enhance the desire. You know when on approach you start asking yourself why you are landing and when tucking it away in the hangar part of your brain is trying to convince you to go fly again? Well, it was like that. So much so I did turn around after landing and started backtracking to take off again…and then changed my mind, Sadly pics taken with a Galaxy S8 through perspex don't exactly demonstrate the extent of the awe, or the deepness of the blue in sky or sea. :( Nor the feeling of being the only soul on the planet. :D I only include the second pic to give a better idea of colour and even it doesn't do it justice. The whole flight was like that, only better! :D Nevertheless...

Hopefully the weather will improve in the south soon. :thumright:

I kind of jinxed the weather when I started this thread didn’t I?!

Twelve days after I started it, it’s been the wettest autumn I can recall, making farming and flying (the two things I live for) largely impossible.

I’ve flown to Scotland a few times and some of the Islands but despite the very positive reports never had the chance to visit Plockton. Hopefully, one day.

I must say that last week I had an amazingly beautiful flight to work. You get used to just fazing out in the blobby suit as you lift into crud and then have just cloud/sea for an hour or two so that you tend to try to sleep knowing you will be working hard on arrival...

...But the other day, HS175, up front with HUGE windows, gorgeous sunshine and showers day with limitless visibility, and half the flight overland and along the coast for a change, it was breathtaking... I only spotted one guy sleeping... the rest of us were looking at the view.

Simply stunning, Days like that I actually feel lucky to take a chopper to work.

Regards, SD..

(PS, if only they would let us take a camera... )

I know you've been a few times, even saw your RV at Inverness one day, I assumed you would have been to Plockton on a visit.

Anyway it's well worth a visit. One thing visiting pilots do tend to miss out on is exploring on the surface. As we all know seeing it from the air is a very different experience. Not seeing it from the surface does tend to create a 'not knowing what we don't know' scenario.
