IIRC there is one over the road and a short way through the woods..


Any before anybody gets offended because their aunt/grandfather/dog was a traveller, - my experience of travellers has been one of a victim of crime. I'm sure there are many travellers with high moral codes, but the ones I have personally encountered have an outlook that low level crime; theft, demanding money with menaces, etc, is part of their way of life and anybody demanding they behave themselves doesn't understand the deep rooted traveller way of life.

Some good news from Blackbushe Airport :

Blackbushe Airport has now employed our own security from 18:00 local and throughout the night who will patrol alongside the existing security provided by BCA.

A dedicated guard will be onsite in an airport vehicle. He will be accompanied intermittently by a dog handler. New signage has also been erected warning of the presence of dogs. The patrol patterns and times are random. The guards also have access to our CCTV system. Infrared trigger points are being installed at key points so the guards can be notified of any activity onsite.

The guards may be patrolling on any of the taxiways or the runway, even whilst aircraft continue to operate throughout the summer evenings. The vehicle is equipped with a radio which can monitor airband transmissions, but the vehicle cannot communicate on the airband.

Please take plenty of care to ensure the runway is clear of any vehicles when landing or taking off, as well as when manoeuvring around the aerodrome.

If you experience any conflict which you believe presents or could present a safety issue, please let us know in order that we can revise the security protocols appropriately.

We will evaluate the security presence throughout the coming months and adjust our presence as we feel appropriate.

I would have thought its more of deterrent to have a snarling barking German Shepherd ready to be released, as your average thief is not going to stand there discussing wether its legal or not.

Talking to one of the guys at Blackbusche Aviation the fuel thefts seem to be local yoofs, mopeds have been caught on CCTV and the amounts of fuel taken very small, they are sure the avionics thefts and the fuel are a separate lot. Hopefully some proper security will deter them.

It has been a useful source of detail and anecdote to share with visitors to JAM, including on this story veterans of RAF Police.
