Another good reason for OP to be in the local* LAA Strut, if not already .. recommended for any SPL: helping with others' builds, maintenance, fettling is excellent early technical education

Seems like a good time to join the LAA and mingle with my local struts.

You would be very welcome at any of the Kent Strut meetings. The next one at the end of June is a BBQ at the airstrip at Ripple near Deal so it's a fair distance from Royal Tunbridge Wells by car. The July meeting is to be held in a pub near Canterbury and on the Saturday following there is a Fly-Out to Calais. If you come along to that meeting, it is more than likely a passenger seat could be found for you to Calais.

September we return to meeting at the Golf Club just off Junction 6 of the M20.

Thanks Jodelman. I'm away in Portugal end of June but should be OK for the July meet and Calais trip. A ride out to Canterbury sounds fun.

The Kent Strut is very friendly, do pop along.
If you can get in a Jodel, I can certainly give you some stick time- it will involve an entertaining/ sporting take off and landing from a farm strip near Maidstone.

Just a massive thanks to Jonzarno for a flight back to blighty from Antwerp in N821CC. A great experience for me and a great IFR and ILS Introduction and apparently good company for John too.
