Up for my 2 year revalidation for my SEP soon. Currently on a self-declare medical ( until April 2020) or whenever / whatever they decide to do.

When I do my one hour with instructor/examiner - on the form they complete, do they just write self declare medical - exp. April 20? - as normally it would be class 2 expiry date.

Just signed someone's SRG1119E, about an hour ago. Didn't even look at the medical as it's none of my business.

I do look at the medical and have a check - it’s not uncommon to find people inadvertently flying illegally and needing some advice (favourite is PPL using LAPL medical at the moment)

The irony is that EASA PPL with LAPL medical not allowed, but EASA PPL with zero medical examination, just a self declaration is ok.

I would not be so sure that self declaration is zero medical examination.
When self declaring, you are examined by the person who knows the patient best and who has the most at stake.
A brilliant, pragmatic option: well done UK CAA.
