In Resolution Advisory mode you will be following TCAS beep more than ATC orders, there are not much windows to lookout for traffic in 747, the few ones has been filled with tablets
, of course it is see and avoid vs a VFR GA aircraft in class D but I don't expect 747 will be able to spot and avoid a PA28 1mile from touch down at Gatwick runway, the opposite is very true
In TCAS Traffic Advisory mode (this is what most of them have at Gatwick), aircrew may inquire ATC to give any traffic info they see in their screen, or ATC just promptly pass your details, for those looking for glory it give some sense of achievement for those who paid their mode-S as much as the share, it give some financial satisfaction
