I was struggling with oscillating in altitude during simulated instrument flying on Friday afternoon - I’d assumed it was me overcontrolling or something, but actually thinking about it my altitude hold became easier during a brief period of real IMC for separation.

Well it sounds like a plausible enough excuse anyway!
