Suggestions sought.

I have a friend with a 2004 Cessna 182 with Bendix Silver Crown avionics. Needs updating to 8.33, but when you look at the cost of a KX165 on 8.33 to get a poxy old fashioned NAV/COM, I am wondering if for a bit more, it may pay to upgrade to a MFD GPS NAV/COM and sell the old gear in the States while it has some value still ?

That would definitely be my plan; and in fact, I'm planning to use use my old 430W as my new Nav/Com 2. Only slightly more expensive (in terms of lost opportunity in selling the 430W) than getting something like a Garmin 255.

A 182 without a GPS NAVCOM is a severely limited beast these days.......
