Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

The nice airfield down the road is owned and operated by IOS Steamship Co, the owners of SkyBus, who are direct competitors with the helicopter service. Can't believe they'd let them operate from there. Bit like BA letting EasyJet use T5 at LHR...

hmm.. AIUI, any 'public use' aerodrome (including heliport and waterdrome) must be made available to all users on an equitable and published basis (just as all GA can use LHR if we can comply with the technical conditions, fees, and get a landing slot :) ). Use of a particular terminal, when others are available, however, may be legitimately restricted.

Kanga,

Like many bits of aviation legislation, that particular licence condition dates from an earlier time and in practice, doesn't quite mean what it says on the tin. I know for a fact that your chances of getting a landing slot at LHR or anywhere else with a Public Use licence that doesn't want you there, even if you did comply with all the restrictions, slots etc, are virtually zero.

As it happens, it doesnt apply to Lands End, which is an Ordinary and not 'Public Use' licence. So they can (or not) accept anyone they want.

Just saying.....

Under judicial review Kanga, as someone (rather predictably) 'objected' to a bit of competition in a rather subtle fashion .
