Apologies if I have missed this elsewhere.

Every five years we have to pay a lot of money for the CAA to simply print a few new A5 pages, identical to the previous set but for the date, and send them to us. I see no good reason for this practice other than to suck a bit more money out of people, and would suggest that licences should not expire; we already have our two yearly sign-off with an instructor which takes care of the safety/currency side of things.

I think I'm right in saying that the new ones don't, but the old ones which have yet to be renewed still have an expiry date? (I went straight from CAA licence to brand new EASA recently) I Can't remember the change over date to non expiry.
