Last year on this forum, I asked if any members had anything to add on the legality of flying in Europe on a LAPL (now a national licence). It is now clear that UK national licences are valid for flight in self built Permit aircraft in France, thanks to ECAC regulation. My question now is whether any member is aware of the situation in Italy i.e. since Italy is also an ECAC signatory, can UK LAPL holders fly self built permit aircraft in Italian airspace?

I think only France have reciprocally agreed to recognise the UK LAPL. I’d also love to know if there are any discussions going on to progress other countries, otherwise I’ll have to convert my LAPL to a PPL this summer as I’m hoping to make a trip to Spain..
