including a requirement (unless there is not one) to be able to spell British English correctly (even in the exams ?)

"..those looking to attain their Private Pilot’s License (PPL) in the UK..."

[licence (US: license) is a noun; license is a verb]

It really does.

But it's even worse than that. The sort of person that will apply for, and get, that job, at that salary level, is probably unaware of how much of a poisoned chalice it must surely be.

I would speculate that, given the utter pig's breakfast that the CAA's approach to systems has been over the last few years, the job is actually going to be very difficult indeed, and to make a real success of it will require considerable expertise, and authority as well as responsibility.

I'd love to be wrong, I really would, but I suspect it's a train-wreck in the making. Or the continuing, I should say.

dependent: gerundive adjective 'rate of climb is dependent on density altitude'
dependant: noun 'aircraft liability insurance sum should take into account needs of pilot's dependants'

.. so, in the case of that CAA VacAd:

'Salary: £25,008 up to £35,000 dependant upon skills and experience'

.. I'd have preferred dependent
(but had failed to spot it  , whereas the even less pardonable Americanism license had drawn my attention immediately)

Thing is, given that

E-Exams is a 3rd party system that the CAA has procured

and that the role requires one to
interact with partners at all levels of business, both internally and externally, with the aim of capturing the voice of the customer

, I would bet that it's basically a middle-man role....

... for someone that will discover that the software house hasn't really understood the requirements, or created a flexible (or performant, I'd further wager) design, and that doesn't have the resources to make the changes needed in a sensible timescale....

... and will need to take the heat from the the people screaming at him* from within (and without) the CAA to make it all work, who are currently taking all the flak from people like us.

*I say 'him', not because I assume that only a man could do the job, but because I can't imagine that a woman would be crazy enough to take such a thing on for such a pittance. Other genders are, of course, available.

"System owner", my arris.
