I have a current LAPL medical till Dec 2022, In April I suffered few days of vertigo and my GP diagnosed BPPV, off work for a week, and then back to normal  , no medication was prescribed just the Epley manoeuvre to help.

I have searched the web and this forum on how or if this needs reporting to the CAA medical department, if anyone can point me to the required form/web link etc. or has had a similar experience, or do I just contact my AME?.

If found the form to notify the DVLA with no problem:

Thanks in advance

Not flown since Dec 2020 :( but navigated the Cellma site :P

It's BPPV.

Sorry you've had it, glad you're better.

It's an unpleasant condition, luckily mostly short lived and self-limiting.

You'll need to contact your AME for help in getting your medical status vis a vis flying sorted.

They will use this guidance.

Thank you Frank, just what i was looking for.
Is it a case of now just meeting the LAPL medical requirement, or will 'extra' tests be required?
I understand you can only give general advice.

All AMEs follow the CAA guidance but there may be some minor interpretation differences, that makes it impossible to say whether what your AME would do/require...

I think most would not require additional tests if the GP report or print out of GP notes indicate a clear diagnosis and the resolution of symptoms has been quicke and with no further recurrences, less clear cases or more recent symptoms and particular recurrences are likely to require ENT consultant assessments and associated tests.

Hope your case can be resolved quickly so you can have some of the rest of the flying season to enjoy.
