My IMC rating expired and was at the back of my license after the CAA reissued after a change of address.
I did some refresher training and passed the flight test but then realised the theory exam also expires when I was filling in the application forms
My query is the written test now in “electronic” format or is it still a paper based multiple guess format?

CAP 804 Part I, Section 5, Part E, page 5, para 3.5.2:

If the rating has expired by more than 10 years, then the IMC Theoretical Knowledge Examination must also be passed.

Whilst CAP 804 has 'For Reference Only' emblazoned across every page, it's the only place you will find some of the national policy and guidance.
