I'm a bit reluctant to raise my head above the parapet as I am a retired AME, but the key is in the word retired, so I don't really have to keep up to date but, for what it is worth, my answer is yes, and yes.

There was a time (for a few years) when the answer was no, and no.

Irrespective of age everyone going for an initial UK or EASA Class 2 needs to have an ECG with the AME.

Those who did not have an ECG at their initial Class 2 examination during the time when this was not a requirement, need one when they come for their next Class 2 Medical.

Once the ECG has been done in accordance with the above, your next ECG will be at the time of your first medical past the age of 50, or if there is a clinical indication for one to be done at any time earlier.
