No significant changes, except to the extension of Medical Certificates, exemptions for which have been moved from ORS4 No. 1378/1385 to ORS4 No. 1408 (EASA) /1413 (National). The rest of the ORS4 No. 1378/1385 alleviations are now in ORS4 No.1414 (National) and ORS4 No.1412 (EASA).

1. Hitherto, any Part-MED medical certificate expiring between 16 Mar 2020 and 31 Oct 2020 could be extended until 22 Nov 2020. However, although this still holds true for certificates expiring before 31 Aug 2020, those expiring between 1 Sep 2020 and 22 Nov 2020 may now only be extended by 45 days or until 31 Dec 2020, whichever the sooner.

2. The CAA is encouraging pilots to use the PMD system wherever possible, in order to reduce pressure on AMEs.

3. The CAA is looking at the use of PMDs for UK-issued Part-MED at Class 2/LAPL level in UK airspace.

4. LAPL holders using LAPL Medical certificates are reminded that they may be used in EEA airspace only. This means all EASA MS plus Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway.

But is it still currently the case that a PMD is still only valid with an LAPL until 8th November?

Does this mean you cannot use the exemption outside the UK?

Confused.

I expect the writer didn't know you can use a lapl medical with PPL-SEP, so the final bit of note 5, "those holding holding a LAPL licence a LAPL medical certificate is required to be held to operate within European
Economic Area airspace
" would be more up to date with something along the lines of:
"those fcl licence holders flying with LAPL privileges/restrictions, a LAPL medical certificate can be held to operate within European
Economic Area airspace
."

A PPL holder operating to LAPL restrictions by virtue of his/her medical certificate status excluding a PMD may fly within airspace without needing to hold a Class 2 medical.

Do you mean EU MS plus Iceland, Lichenstein, Norway and Switzerland? All are listed as EASA MS.

Anything about ratings(IR)?

Still debating whether to go through all the faff just to extend by 6 weeks max which will get me out of synch as at present everything - biennial, IR, IR(R)- expires 30 sept .
I forgo the 25 th IR(R) month to keep it neat .
