Hi
My last Class 2 medical expired in 2007.
I was thinking of renewing my Class 2 medical to then revalidate my old JAR FCL CAA PPL licence (SEP rating). However unfortunately I have recently suffered moderate hearing loss (50db at certain frequencies) in one ear following either a virus or a vascular event in the affected ear.
I am aware of the following CAA guidelines:
https://www.caa.co.uk/Aeromedical-Exami ... lots-(EASA)/Conditions/Otorhinolaryngology/Otorhinolaryngology-guidance-material-GM/
Please could someone clarify for me:
If I wanted to pursue a Class 1 initial medical with a view to ATPL theory and PPL flight instruction (and ratings beyond) - does this mean I would not be eligible for a Class 1 medical now? Or would the CAA take account of my initial Class 2 passed successfully if I could demonstrate satisfactory functional hearing ability?
Thanks.
