My first visit to Eshott

Had a free afternoon on Sunday, the weather was starting to clear up and the cold front kept moving south so it was north or bust the circuit.

I discovered Eshott by accident but they were open and welcomed my PPR. Headed up and an hour and a half later arrived, was very quiet but two good hard runways and a soggy grass runway, almost lost a boot walking across that lol.

It was getting close to sunset, as I walked to the Office I could smell something Smokey in the air, they only had a log burner going inside and it smelt amazing.

Cafe was closed but the staff very nice, had a brief chat but the place just felt so cozy and welcoming, really wanted to stay for longer but I had to get back.

Defo going on the list for a summer visit, after all, I have to sample the cake!

Also the go kart track may be open then :cyclopsani:

There's a great Pub / B&B within walking distance at Eshott :thumright:

There's a walking shortcut rather than the public roads!

Where is the pub/b&b within walking distance?
I phoned Eshott and they seemed to think there was nothing walkable from the airfield for lunch. I did a bit of digging and found the CrazyHorse Bar amd Sallon which was about 15 minutes walk away located within a caravan park. The problem was it involved a walk along the side of the A1 which had no pavement and was a bit dangerous.

Try them :)
There is a walking short-cut to the airfield that Google earth should be able to show you how to avoid walking along the A1. :thumleft:

The Northumberland Arms looks to be just a 2 mile walk from the airfield. I am going to give it a bash during the summer.
Eshott is a firm favourite of mine having landed there on my PPL cross country flight where I recieved a warm welcome from the locals.

The Northumberland Arms is great. We flew up to Eshott and got some lunch there in November. The food was great. It is advisable to book because it can get busy.
