Ostend is a lovely destination, but on this occasion, the weather didn't play ball, and the only way in was IFR. Follow along on a drizzly IFR flight into this famous Belgian seaside resort.

Surprised such a big airport doesn't have more lead in lighting (aka Christmas tree etc etc). But I hope the schprinkels were good !

There are quite impressive lead in lights at both ends of the runway at Ostend, but for whatever reason, they were not illuminated for our landing. IIRC, along the same lines as many French airports, Ostend charges extra for runway lighting, and therefore doesn't illuminate it unless requested or operationally necessary (night, LVPs or similar).
