The HF isn't required if you can struggle up to FL250. We use Mountain High portable O2 for that if non-pressurised.

Insurance cover was arranged by Visicover, although I also got a quote from Haywards too. The requirement was specified as cover for the specific trip to be completed (there and back) in August, with the Atlantic section being conducted by the specific route (Reykjavik Narsarsuaq Goose Bay) save for weather deviations. No additional conditions were imposed nor were there any exclusions. The uplift on my standard premium was negligible (about £30).

I have prior Atlantic piston crossings and am flying on an ATPL with the benefit of high currency on type and high total time (for an amateur at least). On that basis I never got to hear of any specific pilot requirements.
