Where have you been? What have you seen?

A short flight from Leighton Buzzard to a great destination on the south coast, first visit though I have passed it many times. It looks like a big airfield but only operates a Lee on Solent Radio in the ATC. Landed from the sea. Had to taxi so far to get to the tower which is where the portacabin where landing fees are paid (£8 and no parking), All very friendly and simple. The airfield is right on the coast but we didn't find a direct way through (there must be one).
The bikes were useful for exploring the extensive coast area and round to Gosport and the ferry terminal to Portsmouth. Cycle paths and footpaths everywhere.
There was a lot going on, lots of people and boats, old cars, bikes, various museums (diving, hovercraft) and crazy golf. All in all a great day.
Departed on 23L (long taxi again), gliders and tugs on the 23R.

Thanks for visiting. Great trip report and lovely pictures to go with it. Did a nice tour of the aera.

There is access from the tower straight to the beach, there is a footpath that leads to a fence door which takes around 5mins to walk, then your at the beach :D

Glad you had a great time.

They have indeed created a path to a gate in the fence that leads directly to the beach.

The Google image is quite old now, but when I last visited the gate was here:
