My wife booked a hotel for a family holiday to a beech 1 South of Hyeres France next Friday. But the airfield wants 800 euros for landing fee and 3 days parking! ( I have the email to prove it). That is twice the price of the hotel.

I do not need customs or fuel and have 2 young boys with me, age 3 and 7. My plane is a 1961 Bonaza V tail.

I have emailed a few of the airfields in the vicinity, but as of yet had no replies. Does anyone have any recent experience of cheaper airfields within an hours drive or taxi of Hyeres?

How about Le Castellet? Note, however that it's ATC hours are quite restrictive (about 8am to 4pm) and you can't land if the Tower isn't manned.

Cannes is always an option, but more like a 2 hour drive...

TBH, whatever Signature say, I'd be surprised if you were allowed to get in there anyway.

Hyeres is Southern France's sort of equivalent of RAF Northolt and it is not open to public traffic as a matter of course ('Usage restraint'). The AIP lays out the conditions.

680 Euro saved!.....that pays for a hire-car and fuel and probably a few family meals out as well.

120 Euros expensive by French standards but bloody cheap compared to Hyeres. Le Castellet has an attached motor racing circuit so easy to spot. Enjoy.

Your landing fee gets you a black Espace driven by a bloke in a sharp suit to carry you and yours the thirty metres from the parking to the swish terminal.
