I'll be down at my France place, sadly sans avion, while you lot are trogging back and forth to the Raduno.

If anyone happens to stop by for lunch at Vinon (LFNF), Gap Tallard (LFNA) or Aix Les Milles (LFMA) for lunch I could be persuaded to join you :) (or equally if anyone has a problem and needs help in the area, let me know).

Well, it just so happens I am intending to stop at Aix Les Milles... unsure yet if overnight or just fuel/coffee/food... but I could be persuaded to overnight to meet up with a forumite...?!? What is the town like? It would probably be the 16th or 17th weather depêndant...

Regards, SD..

Les Milles - small satellite town to Aix completely swamped by the main dual carriageway/business park/centre commercial that has sprung up around it. As with a lot of French towns like that, it has a small original centre but it's nondescript and there's not really a lot to see and do there. I used to drop in there for fuel when supply at Vinon was patchy, but I haven't flown in there for some time. Apparently the airfield restaurant is reputedly quite good now but I can't verify that. Fuel is self-service, maintenance company on site.

Aix - 9km away, beautiful and elegant but expensive, highly touristic so rammed to the gills with visitors from across the world, and Parisians. A lot of students due to notable universities being based there, including a long established American one, which guarantees a steady stream of affluent US visitors. Traffic can be pretty solid at peak times. It has a place in our hearts; as impecunious youngsters we had a two-week honeymoon there staying with a friend's mother in an apartment on the edge of the town centre. Having said that we don't often go there now unless it's for a specific reason, and I'm certainly out of touch as regards recommendations for food/accommodation. To be fair, it is a good place for a stay, but you'd need more than just an overnight to do it justice.

Best wishes to all participants. I seem to have gone from lapsed pilot to puppy minder; and currently in UK rather than Piemonte. All part of life's rich tapestry. I am sure old hands and first timers will enjoy alike.
