Hi London Flying Club!
Great to see so many of you at Ben Cornwell’s presentation on capturing the perfect pictures! Thanks for coming and thanks to Ben for making the trip down from Blackpool.
Our next speaker is booked and you will not be disappointed. Mark your calendars and reserve your tickets for January 30th when we welcome Martin Rolfe, Chief Executive of NATS, to the London Flying Club. NATS is the UK’s leading provider of air traffic control services. Each year their controllers handle 2.4 million flights and 250 million passengers – and that’s just in the UK!
I had the privilege of hearing Martin speak yesterday evening at an event and it was eye opening. Our airspace has many challenges, including from new aircraft types such as drones, increased aircraft volumes with stretched capacity, and applying advances in AI and Big Data. Martin will address some of these issues, while painting a picture of where ATC is going and he has promised some time for Q&A. I’m sure he won’t mind me spoiling it, but he’s likely to remind us all to switch on our transponders…

Date: 30 January

P.S. We are in the process of rebuilding the website. As a result, it’s a friendly reminder that donations help offset the costs of organizing events, providing drinks and some lite bites, covering speaker travel costs and the webpage. You can donate through the Eventbrite link or in cash on the night. Your generosity is always appreciated.
