So, not before time, it's farewell to the ever-gurning Greg Wallace as the volume of complaints about his behaviour from those who work with him have reached a level even the BBC can't ignore any longer.

Back to Borough Market for him then; after all he was only a barrow boy who some **** recruited off the street.
Then of course, John Torode got his present bird by filching somebody else's wife.

I daresay that she (and probably also her husband) had something to do with it. You make it sound like she is a piece of property.
Pity that Wallace turned out to be a bell-end - I thought he was quite good value in the context of the show. Not that I've bothered with it for years now.

Wallace was intended, I think, to represent Mr Everyman. But within a couple of series he appointed himself an expert food critic, mostly by repeating whatever Torode said in different words and then pulling a limited repertoire of faces for the frequent reaction shots.

Speaking of Mrs Torode... Anyone prepared to accept a small side bet on who replaces Greg?

Off Radio 2 if I'm not mistaken. ISTR he used to do inserts into one of the shows on there about food / vegetable matters.

He has a face made for radio to be fair.

I can't keep up: Wallace is to continue to be shown in the currently running Masterchef series.

Is the Lisa in 'John and Lisa's kitchen' on Saturday morning pleb cookery TV a Mrs Torode?

If so is she a past Mrs Torode given that Torode allegedly dumped his wife by e mail not so long ago or is she Mk 2 Mrs Torode.?

Not that I give a terpenny ferk, you understand; Prefer James Martin mesen'

Not that his alleged behaviour around women is much better.

What is it with chefs< Too much scotch bonnet?

Or is it just the 'barrer-boy' mentality? Think Jay Blades.

EDIT:

Disregard all the above as Mr Google has provided me with all the information I sought

I had the pleasure of spending ninety minutes alone in the company of Lisa Faulkner / Torode many years back when I was filling in a short period on the reception of Wellesbourne Aviation.

Her boyfriend of the time was having an extended trial lesson that she had bought him for his birthday.

She was wholly delightful.

Never liked him. Grocers are not chefs, but that didn’t stop him acting like one.

However, to succeed on TV a certain arrogant sel- regard seems necessary. Once you’ve got that you can disregard everyone else’s feelings, rights,, bodies.
Respecting others was never a feature of his, or many other celeb’s personality.

So, assuming Rod is right and Wallace is a "tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully" (although you can't really hold him responsible for his hair loss), it boils down to bad manners and bad behaviour. Which is reprehensible but not criminal. Being rude to people who can't fight back without risking their own jobs is something we expect those in charge to monitor and control. What were his employers and managers doing, letting him get away with that sort of behaviour at work? Why were the other people around not saying something? He should have had a warning and then been sacked if he didn't mend his ways. Letting it go on for years is not acceptable and Wallace should not be the only one losing their job.

He had already been booted from "In the Factory" or something. I guess that was not BBC?

But once again, as so often this year, it seems the BBC were in thrall to their 'talent'*

*I don't like using that word to describe Wallace. It is deeply inappropriate.
