Oh, and real butter plus brown sauce as well of course.

Either that or good quality sourdough. I can recommend Noa’s if visiting the Isle of Man.
And no sauce, just lashings of lightly salted butter; all melty and dripping down your hand.

I first encountered chips with breakfast in the Canaries. Served up in the common belief that Brits have chips with everything.
Wetherspoons do it now and call it brunch. :)

Mmmm yum, that was good!
But Mrs L threw me a curve ball and asked for mayonnaise in her bacon sandwich. What does the team think - should I have let her have mayonnaise or not?

PS airfield plan ditched due wx of course.

Mayonnaise… not something I think I’d involve, but each to their own!

Well alright, I suppose I should have said "does the team think its OK to have mayonnaise?"
Thing was I'd done all the preparation, nicely laid table, served with sauces in little bowls etc, etc. All posh like.
But she wanted mayo!! So I was a bit disappointed with myself tbh.

Though an essential for a BLT, in moderation.

I can't believe that so far as I can see, despite running to 4 pages, this thread has yet to address the vexed question of incarcerated baked beans. What is this habit of serving the Full English with a ramekin of baked beans on the side, as if they are not fit to be on the plate with the sausages, black pudding et al?

FREE THE BEANS, I say!

They can't be freed as they've been ignored by most right-thinking breakfasters and have been on the hot counter under the infra red lights for so long they are welded to the ceramic ramekins.

Favourite breakfast “starter” on Sundays - grapefruit segments - SOS (seggies on Sunday !)
And for supper - steak with 250ml of wine ,
Worst grub - pilchards in tomato sauce - some brave soul would open a tin, thence, it would remain in the mess fridge, rancid, for weeks on end.

Funny you should say that: a friend of mine long ago made us a Pilchard Curry which he had been taught by his Ayah when he lived in and was brought up in India.

It was bloody delicious............

Must be a genetic taste thang: my grand-daughter -age 14- will happily devour an entire tin of sardines in tomato sauce straight from the tin-bones and all-. :puker:

They're in a ramekin so that right minded souls can easily remove it from the plate and put it on the table as far away as possible, where it belongs!
If they were dolloped on the plate they would spread across it rendering the other food inedible.
Any establishment giving me beans (even in a ramekin) without having checked if I wanted them gets deducted 5 points on the breakfast score - that's out of a maximum possible score of 10, so it's a serious crime.

Aye, beans should be an extra. Or swappable for something sensible like a slice of black puddin'.

I like baked beans - on toast for lunch occasionally. If you overlook the sugar content and my choice of bread and, naturally, butter, it's quite healthy. Or so I like to think.

Ditto but only on toast occasionally, sometimes with a fried egg on top, sometimes with grated cheese.

However, Baked Beans are best eaten cold from the tin for lunch :D
