Sandra has an Audi TT Roadster (Mk2)

The CD player doesn't work.

Rather than replace the existing double DIN / steering wheel-controlled unit with the same again I would like to enable her to have at least Waze and Google Maps on an inbuilt screen. I suggest that Android Auto will become a must-have too.

Any comments, experience, recommendations?

Well the question is whether you go for old school (Alpine / Kenwood / Pioneer) or some Chinesium at less than half the price. Some of the latter are actually pretty decent.

incartec.co.uk will sell you a complete kit of parts excluding the actual head unit and steering wheel controls etc., will still work if you buy the right bits.

Next question is if you want something that actually runs Android (and so can natively run the apps), or whether or not you're happy to always have to tether the phone.

I can't give any specific advice, just throwing some 'food for thought' in your direction.
