No mention of an isolator switch @Rob P ?

So you can have the light on, without the fan, but also, so it’s possible to turn off/isolate the fan.

They do 3 pole switches for the application, usually above the bathroom door? As it’s really easy to route to from the loft (usually).

What a great idea. I can see a revision in my loft arrangements in the near future. Not just for noise, which is hardly relevant for me, but mainly for accessibility.

Got out the trusty son of Avo:

Fan's bu ggered.

New fan on order.

Power shower soundproofing foam on order for ensuite extractor fan which has been screwed directly to joist and reverberates throughout bedroom, yet standing beside it in the loft is virtually silent :roll:

Didn't fancy the 'string solution'. :shock:
