This item investigated the origin of the NI placename Ballywatticock, after it had been in the news as the site of the weather station observing NI's highest ever temperature:

It occurred to me that this perfectly fulfilled the Reithian commitment to 'inform and entertain'. In the great scheme of things it clearly added unimportant detail to a recent story, but equally it helped inform the curiosity of those who may have been intrigued by the unfamiliar detail in in that original story. Obviously, it appealed to me as a linguist nerd , and I was pleased to see it; others may have regarded it as a research effort which, however small, wasted licence fee payers' money. Whichever, I rather doubt any other UK media enteprise would have bothered
