This is not unusual. It happens every year all over Northern Ireland.
The fire brigade will be busy putting out those that get out of control. Some people will be injured.
There might even be a house or two burned down. Certainly some cars burnt out.
The police will stop some fires being lit.
Some will get dismantled before they get lit.

It's a hard one for the authorities. Too heavy handed, results in riots. To light handed results in lives and home lost and elderly terrorised.

Many NI residents (from both traditions) choose this period to go on holidays to get away form this and the marches, as they don't feel safe there.

I grew up in NI during the worst of the troubles. This sort of stuff just perpetuates ingrained attitudes and historical grievances. I'm going over tomorrow to look after my ailing Mother for the weekend. When she is gone I will never set foot in the place again unless I have to...
