This follow-up story might indicate that a fire in a railway arch business, spreading to neighbours, may have been the cause of the reportedly audible apparent explosions; which may (or may not) make the story less alarming than the use of 'explosion' in the headline:

Yes the BBC were quick to edit the storyline once the explosions were put down to storage of pressured containers in the business that was on fire.

But it made an exciting headline for the reporters to write initially !
