My energy company (Octopus Energy) lend out a FLIR thermal camera FOC for a week, so that you can look for hot & cold spots around the home, with the aim of enabling you to make specific improvements where needed. Not a bad offer seeing as they cost £300 ! https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Thermal-Reso ... 288&sr=8-1

No prizes for guessing which end of the house and which chimney the Aga goes in to

And with the house being a 630 year old timber framed house, single skinned and more gaps between the beams than I care to admit to, the results are as pretty as they are shaming ...

That's a great idea, thanks CP, it appears that the Octopus offer is seasonal. The Octopus web pages explain that the camera only really works when outside ambient is below 10 C, so they are not taking any more loan reservations until October 2021. We're with Octopus so I might join the list next time around.

FYI, here is a link to the Octopus pages ... https://octopus.energy/blog/flir-thermal-cameras/

Had a building control inspection of some loft works in February. The guy turned up, looked at the frost on the roof and immediately passed the insulation! :D

Nah, the neighbours are all high as kites: They just look for hoardes of happy people staggering about the streets.....
