I wonder if covid survivors with natural immunity will be afforded the same freedoms? Or is natural immunity no longer good enough?

There's a balance of risk. Natural immunity is much less uniform and predictable than vaccination. Neither is a guarantee that you won't catch it and pass it on, but the likelihood with vaccination is very small based on current data.

How good natural immunity is, following an infection, depends on the disease.

In the case of Covid, it is thought that especially with respect to mild cases, vaccination produces a much stronger and longer-lived immune response.

Quite a good summary here.

AZ reluctance in Australia even among the older groups for whom it's approved there, where there's a shortage of Pfizer, the only other approved vaccine

Which suggests that like the vaccinations, natural immunity depends on the immune response of the individual. I know of a few double jabbed who’ve fallen ill with Covid showing the vaccines aren’t 100% effective either. I’m guessing it’s part of the campaign to ensure double vaccinations before they stop travel again in November

In other news, it's still all over bar the shouting;

The number of people dying with flu and pneumonia on their death certificate in England and Wales is now 10 times higher than those with Covid, figures show.

The latest weekly data on deaths from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that there were 84 deaths mentioning Covid in the week ending June 11. There were 1,163 involving flu and pneumonia.

Registered Covid deaths fell by 14 per cent since the last update, in the week ending June 4, when 98 deaths were recorded.

Covid deaths now make up just 0.8 per cent of all deaths – down from 1.3 per cent in the previous week, despite the fact that week included the late May bank holiday, meaning there were fewer death registrations.

@eltonioni - you're still shouting and it's still not nearly over.

It isn't all about deaths, it's about infections which are leading to previously healthy people of all ages suffering from symptoms which deeply affect their day to day lives. Many have been suffering for months and no-one can tell them if or when they'll recover.

Many previously healthy people are suffering from many symptoms for all manner of diseases which deeply affect their day to day lives. Many have been suffering for months and no one can tell them if or when they will recover.
1600 people a day die for all sorts of reasons never mind a half dozen 82 year olds with co morbidities from Covid.
We don’t shut down entire economies, trash hundreds of thousands of businesses, create mass unemployment, misery and poverty for countless people and increased deaths from cancer and a multitude of other diseases from neglect at the altar of Covid for these other causes.

We desperately need some sense of proportion and reality here.

Do you simply yearn to keep this endless dystopian existence going forevermore?

I watched that press conference a couple of days ago where they made these claims and it was a reassuringly evidence-free zone. Two people passing in a shopping centre who later test positive for Covid is not evidence of anything except that two people passed in a shopping centre and later test positive for Covid. Those flimsy grounds don't justify denying freedom to an entire nation.

It's with massive regret that I've realised just how easily populations slip into authoritarian control of themselves and others. We must all feel baffled at how a modern nation like Germany turned into a fascist murderous state where ordinary bank clerks, housewives, plumbers, road sweepers, politicians and pilots - people just like us - became supporters and perpetrators of all manner of horrendous crimes.

This virus has pulled back the curtain and revealed that we're either collaborators or partisans.

Everyone fancies that they will be a partisan when the time comes, but it turns out that the majority are collaborators and they are just a gnat's cock from being supporters and perpetrators of all manner of horrendous crimes. Never was the old maxim more true - if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything.

temporary Sydney (NSW) restictions tighter on, eg, visiting households than anywhere in UK:

Meanwhile, those under the advisory age for AZ there cannot get it, even if they want it and although there's an unused surplus. Our relatives there are among those thereby frustrated.
