Ah, the fox thing - fair enough! We don't have that problem, ours is the other way and insists on marking her patch and anywhere else as much as she can.

Country life is messy........and I can't live with the smell of fox excrement - which they both loved to roll in.

Our now departed Golden retriever used to favour piles of fish guts discarded by fishermen on Suffolk beaches.

No matter which beach we chose she always found a stinky pile:

We had to abandon Aldburgh for this very reason as a coastal walkies venue.......

My dad's former dog, a border collie, never ever drank any water from his bowl indoors if he could help it. Instead he replenished his fluids by drinking from a few select brooks and puddles on their normal walking route. During warm summer days those dried up and he, very reluctantly, drank fresh water.

His current dog, also a border collie, loves poo from both sheep and chicken. And he is irresistably drawn to mud. Luckily my parents trained him early on that he needs to stay on the carpet until he's been rubbed down with a towel before he's allowed to come in to the house.

Two-stroke of any flavour is the smell of twenty minutes on the boating lake in Skeggy in the 70's, followed by the smell of the zoo afterwards.

Funny how stinks stay with us for a lifetime long after they have been washed away (or redeveloped). Dogs aren't daft.
