Quite right. Take the photo in the right format in the first place.
If people took mobile phone photos and videos in landscape attitude (i.e. with their phones "horizontal"), then this problem would not arise.
But for some obscure reason, a lot of folk use their phone camera in the "portrait" attitude, which I don't understand (particularly for videos...when was the last time you saw a TV or cinema in portrait mode? :roll: )

According to my fiendishly clever app !

Well blow me down.... and I thought that crop which I grew for fifty years and delivered tens of thousands of tonnes of to Newark beet factory which looked like that was called sugar beet... So the crop that I have grown each year for the last decade and comes in a seed bag marked Maize (and looks like this today), must not be maize at all then.... so confused. :wink:

Nope...

You are growing Norfolk Island Pine, a species of Araucarias - says so here :thumleft:

C66 is right. He’s as much a farmer as I am, and what he doesn’t know about crops isn’t worth knowing.

PS What level of GPS accuracy do you run on your John Deere Greenstar @C66? Is that SF2?

What happened to the precision drill - there are a lot of blank spaces in the crop rows ?
I haven’t even ploughed for my swedes yet - not to be sown until after the 28th May.

I’m guessing a moisture issue. It’ll come through in time.

Either that, or the rooks are busy in Newark.

Yes, correct on both counts:

GPS = SF2 :thumleft:

Slow/erratic emergence is due to only 13mm of rain in the last six weeks (albeit after the wettest winter I can recall....). :roll:

I do however drill the maize with the Vaderstad air drill - I prefer the flexibility of timing that using my own kit affords, and have found that a non-precision drill results in very little yield difference compared with a contractor's specialist drill that we often found we were waiting for.

Is that the famous “don’t cast a root till May is oot”?

I’ll get my coat...then put it back, since I can’t go anywhere...
