They want 250,000 people apparently.

I've registered. Now a waiting time while they check that I am who I say I am. I've signed up to deliver medicines and healthcare kit/supplies.

It seems the app works like those used by takeaway drivers. You toggle yourself available/unavailable and when available you accept/reject tasks the system pushes to you.

Am incredibly surprised that they pay your travel expenses. I wouldn't have asked for them.

Volunteers must be 18 or over, and fit and well with no symptoms. Those in higher-risk groups (including those over 70, those who are pregnant or with underlying medical conditions) will be able to offer support by telephone.

Accounts / contacts - probably just a mistake... You wouldn't believe how many Android apps request these permissions then do nothing with it. As above, you can always disable it afterwards. Or use an Apple device ;)

Camera - that's a fundamental part of the app. This app can be used by responders dealing with emergencies, you can stream video from the incident site back to the controller who is dealing with you.

If you go to the higher level domain you can read all about it.

No, because I'm (a) self isolating over a chesty cough I had a week ago, and (b) still have a day job I am doing from home.

However, here's another opportunity to contribute and help. Variously

(a) If you have relevant professional skills
(b) If you are an engineer with a PhD
(c) If you have a computer

Pretty certain most of us fall into at least one of those categories, and many two, with the odd three. ... o-covid-19
