Science News today suggested the following lockdown virtual escapes, including an aviation museum...

"An exhibition at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas showcases the remains of two ancient hominids ( Australopithecus sediba and Homo naledi) unearthed in South Africa, whose discovery has raised new questions about humankind’s family tree.

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force near Dayton, Ohio, offers a 3-D virtual tour of its air parks and hangar, with information on the specs and history of various aircraft. Get lost in a seemingly endless sea of hulking planes, spacecraft and other machinery.

For its virtual tour, the National Museum of Computing in Bletchley, England, includes a handy dollhouse-view feature for easy navigation. In these galleries, you can view electronic artifacts like the world's oldest working digital computer.

If you're torn between visiting a science, art or history museum, check out the History of Science Museum in Oxford, England. Its gallery of past exhibits is full of curiosities like artwork dyed using genetically engineered bacteria and a collection of steampunk art."

I have always been uneasy about the marketing of packs of small shiny often coloured magnets as toys.
You know the sort: dozens of ball/rods which stick together to make sculptures and rotating shapes.

They look just like sweets.

It only takes a small child to swallow more than one and they will stick together across a loop of bowel, causing necrosis of the bowel wall perforation and peritonitis in pretty short order, requiring emergency surgery.

We had some for when our teenage grandson visited, but since the twin grandboys arrived the magnets are now stashed away in the loft.

The warning on the tin they came in is minuscule.

In these difficult times it is important to look after yourself and relax whenever possible.

One of the comments on the YouTube site notes that the makers of that missed a trick:

There should be a "MEDITATE! MEDITAAAATE!" somewhere in there.

The lack of commute, and the fact that I’m scunnart, meant I had time today to enjoy my garden, my kids playing, I even got 66.67% of them to help get rid of the bamboo that’s returned.

Its the first time in a year I’ve dragged the telescope into the garden. It’s a stunning moon, next to no atmospheric distortion (less pollution?)

Honestly - I could happily have another couple of months of lockdown, as long as I can reduce my professional WFH workload...
