We have Canon TS 6150 and HP M252W. The Canon is our second after the first finally died after about 7 years and is used for both scanning and a wide range of printing in colour for her in doors. I use the HP just for a range of colour printing.

Thus far no complaints about either and we use "cartridge save" for consumables which generally works very well.

If you are pointed towards an Epson, based on my personal experience, I will pay your first year's fees in the funny farm !

My Dad does like to turn his printer off after every print job.

Then when it restarts when he turns it back on an hour later, it does all it’s cleaning procedure again.

I have explained it’s not a good idea to turn it off and on 4 times a day, it’s not designed to be turned on before each print job and then turned off, but he won’t have it.

I wonder if this is why Canon printers “get full”.

We’ve always had Canon printers, and never seen this dreaded 5B00 error.

I have a BROTHER HL L 2340W
It came up with-you need a new cartridge--am using recycles which last twice the print.
I found a website printer resets tips and ticks.
bit convaluted but some genius has worked out how to do a reset-- probably worth a look if you have a problem with"only use company cartredges.

Can you advise model number please. Seem to start at around £125 from what I can find.

The one I got for our flying club in 2017 was
Brother MFC-1910W A4 Mono ( before they started wanting colour copies of things). I have a
Brother MFC-L2700DW.
I assume there are now newer models out there now. No issues with either model. Unbranded cartridge are normally in the £10 range.

Canon cameras and printers have all failed or seriously glitched and l vowed never to buy their products again.
The last was a newish home printer/ reader new cartridge wasted time & money.
Bought an inexpensive HP instead which does what it says on the tin !
