Another loco airline bites the dust.....

Iceland's Wow airline has stopped flights and says passengers needing to travel should book with other airlines.

Its website says: "Wow Air has ceased operation. All Wow Air flights have been cancelled."

The carrier, which had been in funding talks with investors, flew from London Stansted and Gatwick in the UK.

It said some airlines may offer flights at a reduced rate, so-called rescue fares, and it would publish information on those when it becomes available.

The better half flew back with WOW from the San Francisco last summer. The flight was delayed for several hours for tech reasons, and she had to overnight at the former US barracks at Reykjavik airport as the WOW connecting flight to Stanstead was not happening that day, and in the end she got back to the UK a day later, missing a day's work. WOW agreed the standard airline compensation, but kept coming up with reasons why they had not yet paid - I guess we won't be getting a penny now!
