For brilliant customer service:
Blackwells
Ordered some sheet music for a gift; it turned up heavily creased, as if someone had sat on the packet. I called them and got straight through. She didn't have any more copies in her building, so offered to call round and see what she could do. Within 15 minutes she was back to me saying she had a copy on order and it would be with me in a few days. Then she emailed me a print-it-yourself postage paid label to return the original copy. But not before offering to post me a label out.
Born Haircare
I bought a bottle of shampoo and a bottle of conditioner. They sent two shampoos... I emailed them to let them know and they were straight back to apologise...but had no conditioner in stock. Again, they offered to post a freepost label to return the spare shampoo. The conditioner took a while to come back into stock, but they emailed every couple of days to apologise. When it was finally in, they posted it out by 24 hour courier with a 'thank you' extra gift.
Waitrose
Ordered a dog harness to help support elderly woofer on walks. It didn't arrive when it was meant to. I emailed them (on the Friday IIRC) to ask where it was and they said that they'd had to order more stock in, but would post it the next day. I asked whether they could post it then and there so we had a slim chance of getting it for the weekend (although I'd only paid for standard delivery), so woofer could enjoy the nice weather... I heard nothing until the 'before 1pm' courier turned up on the doorstop the next day.
