Any idea why the Russians don't simply use guns? Or would that be too ..., "American"?

Why use some strange chemical that can only be manufactured in a Governmental, or similar, laboratory?

Or is the whole point to send a message of who did it, not just the simple act of causing harm?

Fear uncertainty and doubt, has always been a powerful weapon, mind games are the real effective weapons when the objective is control of populations.

It was a technique used to good effect commercially by IBM in the 1970s. “Nobody ever got fired for buyingIBM”

A shooting is too clean for the Russians.

Look at the amount of work and resources are being used to clear/clean this up; in addition this sends a very powerful message to people with the same background as Scripal, and those who may be thinking of going the same route and becoming MI6 spies.

I would not be shocked to discover that the Russians had nothing to do with it, but if that is the case MI6 and HMG will make sure the public never gets to know as blaming Putin and his mates suits their agenda! Litvinenko I can understand as he was in a position to cause harm to the Russian state, but by all accounts Skripal was no longer in a position to do so.

It's the Americans -- an attempt to throw a spanner in the UK-Russia security dynamic to discredit any Trump findings. You read it here first -- apart from Joe's autocorrect, that is.

Or it might have been Pizza Express.

There was a very tongue in cheek report on Russian state media when the story first broke saying that the UK was a dangerous place for dissidents and suggesting it might be to do with the weather.
