.. I had a moped like that once. Never needed to lock it in my then home town (Liverpool!)

When I was living in Liverpool, a friend decided that he wanted his motorbike to be stolen so he could get the insurance pay out. So, he left it with the key in the ignition.

Some bright spark with clearly a very dry sense of humour came along and stole the key. My friend didn't have a spare, so had to buy a new set of ignition and steering locks.

Served him right.

Coming home from the first Birmingham Superprix, the Mk2 escort started misfiring in the spray.

We went into the services for a brew. Coming out, well drilled, brother went for the bonnet, I went for the boot to get the WD40 for the dizzy cap. I couldn't find the spray, nor my camera, in the boot.

I had opened the boot of a Renault 14!

I wonder if the bright work answered to the name of "Paul"

My brother tried something similar. After having the AA fit a temporary ignition after he lost his keys he left the car (rover metro) in a dodgy area with the window open, door unlocked and 10p coin driven ignition on show. It disappeared. On calling the police to report the theft they informed him they had towed it to avoid it being stolen and he could come and pick it up!
