A subject close to my heart I used to fry.-
battered jam sandwiches (a speciality pudding from Army Catering, apparently and thoroughly recommended) Mars. milky way, bounty, snickers, kit kat(a b888er 'cos they float ) twix....in fact, almost anything.
One regular Saturday-night inebriate used to have a battered, fried, Hollands meat pie. Another dared a battered pickled gherkin.

I tried hard to perfect battered ice-cream, but Baked Alaska, it wasn't.
Good for publicity,- did a slot on satellite TV and also a live interview on local radio.....was even sent a complimentary case of jams ,by local company Duerr's
