So how come dark tints have not become standard on brand new relatively low flying GA light aircraft? (apart from a posh Cirrus).

All brand new 4 seat Piper SEP seem to have a light tint not a dark tint as standard.
Optional accessory for a darker tint (aka sunglasses - have as dark a tint as you like? lol)

Go to the next level up their food chain and you get darker tints for exclusivity/privacy/pet-cooling/whatever.
