Anyone see Greg Wallace's prog on BBC1 last night concerning ASDA's £300K machine that sorts its millions of avocados using 'touch ' and IR light into a traffic light grading of ripeness? (green eat now, amber 2-3 days ripening red (pink actually) 5-7 days ripening: Fascinating.

Apparently more is spent on avocados per annum now than oranges.

(which, inter alia, doesn't surprise me - I haven't tasted a truly delicious orange for many years....)

Even my 8 month old twin grand boys get pureed avocado (mixed with figs and strawberries ) for their puddin'.

Maybe Mrs W hasn't been preparing them properly. :shifty:

Try halving, and popping crumbled Stilton and a dash of balsamic vinegar into the hole.
Or crack an egg in and bake until the egg has just cooked.
Or add to a salad with slices of pear...

Marinated in a black bag and tossed into the bin has always been the perfect way to serve them IMO.

P.S.

Feel free to suggest this in person. I'll be just... err... over here.

Thread drift:
I'm a mango addict and in this hot weather they seem to go off in less than 24 hours, even if bought green and kept in the fridge.

Have had to stop buying them for the moment..... :(

I am all for saving paper etc. but this whole thing makes me :wall:

And then there's this:
But Miss Curtis says they have high hopes for many other fruits and vegetables, possibly including lasering pumpkins with "cut here" scarey faces for Halloween.

This is one step away from a sandwich with 'Bite here' lasered into its surface.

I refer m'learned friends to this thread (and, in hindsight, also this thread) and rest my case.
We truly live in the asylum.

(Of course, it could just be me...)
