This came out the year of my birth.
I never actually realised until tonight a video existed of the Deep Purple doing Child of Time (or even a bunch of other songs) "back then".

I grew up with Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zep etc. Been enjoying finding videos I didn't know existed!
It's so odd to so see them "as they were" so easily on Youtube. I remember back in the early 80s, absolutely nobody had any videos. Even having the records or cassettes was a serious bragging point. How times have changed!
.......
This all came about cos my 3 and a half yr old daughter has - for the past several months - been declaring her instrument of choice is the electric guitar. My wife and I have no idea where this comes from. Neither of us play guitar.
Just like my youngest son (nearly 6) spent one full year nagging to learn drums. We finally caved (not thinking it would last more than a few weeks), and he started lessons in October .Turns out the wee beggar is a natural! His instructor (pro musician in a decent band) loves him, there's never a wasted lesson and he goes hell for leather every time. We have a video of him doing Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" - banging it out so hard the music school was shaking
My 8yr old is a stress monkey - but gifted on (classical) piano. OK, my wife is good on piano - not that she ever plays though.
My daughter - she loves electric guitar.
Looks like I'll have to buy her a 1/4 sized electric guitar soon...
The annoying/embarrasing part is that with piano or drums - either my wife or I can help the kids out.
Electric guitar. Nope. Never done that.
Acoustic guitar , yeah - I played a bit. I always found electric guitar too full of expensive gadgets, too much time messing around with amps/cabs/mics/cables/fx pedals etc - all to copy a well known riff/song.
The odd part is that after 35+ years of refusing to even think of picking up an electric guitar (my bro bought one in 82)...I must admit it now looks tempting....
The last thing I need is becoming a guitar bore!!!
I have to say though, after a day of looking, modern virtual fx/cab software like Bias FX,Amplitube, Revalver etc look like great fun...
