Has anyone been to both Chiang Mai in Thailand and Battambang in Cambodia? I went to CM in the '80s but can't decide on whether to spend 2 days there or go to Battambang instead as part of a fairly comprehensive multi-stop holiday next March (after CNY and Tết).

Any first hand views of which is "better"?
