The only mag failure that I remember well would have been found just before shutdown, but was instead found (well, suspected,) the hard way in a c150 in the climb out, only a few minutes after the pilot I was checking out said on base leg that he was really enjoying himself and could we do one more circuit so a t&g rather than a full stop landing?
Would a faulty switch (not earthing) increase chances of engine failure? Why?
