Yes, Bourne Park was like that. Sloping, on chalk, about an inch of topsoil on top of the chalk. Could get slippery but not boggy. Popham now is on similar but has deeper soil, so will see.

The original comment was about Barton though, which I gather has been nicknamed "Barton on the bog" as it can get a bit soggy in the winter.

For those who don"t know it-get a copy of Lockyers-around 280 strips in it . That plus sky demon will give you enough to work on.
Obviously PPR plus check the condition of the strip before your visit,
Watch out for wet grass--aquaplaning can come as a surprise.
Generally had a warm welcome and met some interesting people.
